Hello all:
Our hospital's anesthesiology department has a current practise of
telling all moms who have had surgical anesthesia that they must pump
and discard their milk for 24 hours, no exeptions. (other than post-op
C/S). They are apparently aware that there is evidence that this is not
necessary, but will continue to recommend it anyway. I would like to
write a letter to try to change this practise. I have all the evidence,
articles I need, (including information from Jack Newman and Tom Hale),
but am having difficulty putting it together in a letter. Has anyone
dealt with this issue, and written a letter that was well received and
resulted in a change of practise? Would you be willing to share your
letter?
Thanks in advance, Doreen Vanderstoep, RN, IBCLC
