Breastfeeding and Human Lact (4th ed) states to wait at least 6 weeks postpartum, though I have read to wait at least 8 weeks.  It also states (this might be what you need) that contraceptives should be delayed AT LEAST 3 days after birth- preferably longer- to allow the hormone levels to drop so milk production can begin.  See p. 732 for an accurate quote.  Hope this helps!
