I also go nuts at the rate and strength of moms thumping their tiny babies
backs!!! Not only hot air rises, but in a jar of water (I equate to baby's
tummy after being fed) when the jar is turned upside down, the air is always
at the top. So I explain that by virtue of the fact that the baby is put in
a somewhat upright position, the air will rise to the top and exit.
