(818)353-7446 My son was born with a cardiac defect and at six days old he had open heart surgery.  He then spent another 5 weeks in the NICU.  During the surgery, his vocal chords were damaged, making it impossible for him to swallow thin liquids for some time.  Two weeks before he was discharged, we began to teach him how to drink a bottle.  I have pumped breast milk for him since day one, but I've always wanted him to nurse.  He now drinks straight breast milk - no thickener, no formula.  I'm looking for some very practical, hands-on advice.  Ideally, I'd like someone to come into my home, if possible. I know this will be challenging, but I think it is really worth it for both my son and myself.  He is now 4.5 months old.
