Hydrastis (goldenseal) is not safe during pregnancy, as it can induce miscarriage.? It is used by some herbalists to treat thrush in infants. Most naturopaths I know do include goldenseal in treatments for nursing women, and I have definitely taken it myself. OTOH, I don't suggest it b/c there are other options. In other words, I am sure the baby is fine, but I would tend to suggest other treatments for a cold (if that is what it is for). I also don't suggest echinacea b/c most people do not take enough to mount an appropriate response.
