I just had a mom who has been pumping for almost 6 months for her baby in NICU. He was born at 24 weeks and IUGR, multiple problems, off and on feedings. He died today, sadly. I spoke with this mom last week and she was still pumping and had a decent supply.
Do any of you with NICU's have a way you deal with this situation, a handout for the nurse to give the mom? (because a lactation consultant is not always available when this happens-and it is not always the first concern when a baby dies)
If anyone has a handout they would like to share, that would be great.
I did search the archives but did not come up with anything.
