Kangaroo the baby and have him crawl to breast before feeding.
Have the mother lie semi-reclined with her shirt off place the baby
between but just below nipple
line. Support baby but let him use the crawling -stepping reflex to
find the nipple. You can help him
by placing your hands on his feet so he can push off. I had two kids
who did this..
One never stopped clenching. BUt, I could tolerate his suck around the
6th week.
The other latched on correctly the first time I did this but it took
another
4-5 times over a two week period before she suckled correctly
throughout the day. It works even better in the bath.
This works with other sucking dysfunction as well.
