I believe Ann(e) Sinnott recently published a book re extended bf from
interviews with mothers and (I believe) fathers who had done this in their
families. I was one of the participants but have not seen the book.
You might do a lit search or try to find Anne on lactnet search.
FWIW, In my experience (myself bf x about 5-6 yrs,and other mothers), the
mother is usually more than willing to wean if the child is, but IT IS THE
CHILD who desires to continue bf, even when mother (and others) encourage
the weaning.
And unrelated to bf, my understanding, also, is that homeschooled students
excel in most areas and are not overly dependent or under-socialized.
