Hi all,
A friend and LLL Group mother has discovered she is pregnant (6 weeks). She is breastfeeding her 18 month old toddler. Said toddler is her only other child and was born about 3 months early. She does not know why he was early as the doctors did not seem to know. Is there any research on breastfeeding through a risky pregnancy? She is considering weaning for the sake of the new baby but is reluctant as the toddler still enjoys nursing.
I have searched the LLL website and looked up the BAB and 'Breastfeeding and human lactation'. There seems to be a lack of research on these particular circumstances. she has come across info suggesting if Drs say it is safe to have sex, then it is safe to breastfeed.
Any thoughts?
Many thanks,
Sarah McCann.
