Tracey,
We have often discussed this on LN. Prescribing requires both a prescriber and  prescription drug. You are not prescribing when you suggest 
herbs, homeopathy, supplements, a castor oil compress or a visit to the chiropractor. Being in CT, we are lucky to have so many excellent holistic
resources for moms.

I am a hospital based LC (NICU), looking for advice on suggesting herbs to increase milk supply. Since it 
is not within our scope of practice to prescribe, how can we make these suggestions safely?
