Hi!
I am looking for suggestions for an issue I am personally dealing with.
I've seen a pediatrician, dermatologist, and discussed with two lactation
consultants, as well as one of them consulting with a pedi dentist.
I am currently breastfeeding my 2 1/2 year old adopted daughter (since
birth). I nursed my first child for 20 months (weaned due to difficult
pregnancy), my second child for 2 1/2 years, and weaned due to this same
issue.
At about 2 years with child #2 and #3 my nipples and areola became almost
burned in appearance, very painful, flaky and extremely painful due to
bleeding cracks all the way around the nipple. I am taking 400mg of
diflucan daily, applying bactraban crème alternated with Lanolin. I don't
want to wean, and my daughter is not ready to wean. I don't want to go
through the trauma of unwanted weaning if there is something that could be
done, but I also don't know if I can handle the pain much longer either.
Thanks in advance for any resources or suggestions you may have!
