A few years ago I had a mom with about the same injury. We tried to get baby to nurse on affected side, she would not. She was discharged and I never knew what happened. Last year she attended my breastfeeding class,(she was in Nursing School), and told me she was never able to get baby to that side and did not make milk, but she shined when she told me that she exclusively breastfed on the uninjured side for over 18 months. We don't do follow-up at our hospital, so it was good to hear she and baby enjoyed this special bond.
