Michelle,
A couple of thoughts:
I would ask for a referral to a nutritionist or RD who has had experience
with PKU and bf.
My understanding is that various infants tolerate various amts of breastmilk
and need monitoring.
Mom may be able to bf with a supply line of PKU-formula.
Mom will have to make her wishes clear that preserving bf is very important.
It may be that a person experienced with this is at another hospital or
clinic (teaching hospital??)
Not sure if this was a screening test or it's been confirmed, make sure it
is confirmed.
