Those of you that work in a hospital setting, do you have a policy regarding
mom getting anesthesia for procedures and when she can breastfeed?
I have been called down to same day surgery for patients that have told by
an anesthesiologist that they cannot breastfeed for 24 hours or some other
conflicting information. I have been telling those patients reference from
Thomas Hale, Medications and Mothers' milk. The patient was fine with that
but the surgical nurses want a policy regarding that. I had spoken to the
anesthesiologists a year ago but we now have an entire new crew.
You can email me privately if you wish.
Thank You,
Terri Klein RN CLE CLC hopefully after the 21st. IBCLC
