Anne said "Several physicians have reported pink milk caused by a serratia
marcescens infection in the mother's breast(s). The pigment from this
bacteria is known to cause red/pink staining.
I recommend having the milk cultured, with proper culture techniques to
isolate serratia. Generally, this should be treated with antibiotics, based
on the sensitivities from the culture."

If the infection causes no symptoms (in mother or babe) other than
pink-stained milk, why would it be important to either culture it or treat
it with antibiotics?
