Below is a link to a Medscape article about the success of a breastfeeding
program in San Jose, CA hospital's NICU. The article described a poster
presentation done at AAP conference in October and showed having all NICU
staff on board with the program was a large part of the reason for increased
breastfeeding rates upon discharge. Though part of the program was
promotion of breastfeeding for a year, I was disappointed that statistics for this
were not included in the article. Does anyone have access to AAP poster
presentations that may have more complete information?
So kudos to this NICU and its staff. Also of interest are related
articles listed to the right of this one about breastfeeding in the NICU, and
teaching bottle feeding mothers how to bottle feed.
