Hi all,

I have a mom who was diagnosed with hyperprolactinemia and put on
bromectiptine in 2007. She was started at a high dose that brought her
prolactin levels down to 3ng/ml and gave her significant negative side
effects as a result. She lowered her dose to ¼ of the original dose and her
prolactin levels raised back up to what would be normal for a non-lactating
woman. She was on this dose for 12 months. She had scans done and no
prolactinoma’s were seen. No history of PCOS or insulin resistance, or any
other hormonal issues besides this.

She got pregnant just fine and delivered a healthy baby Nov. 8, 2008. She
is now having serious issues with her milk supply. Her prolactin levels
were far too low to have a full milk supply (49 at approx 9 days). She
started domperidone on Nov 21, 2008 and is up to 140mg per 24hours. She is
producing no more than 30 – 40 ml per pumping (both breasts combined).

Here are my questions: If there is a microprolactinoma is domperidone safe
for her? What else can we look for to address this situation for her
(upping milk supply, plans for next baby, etc.)

Please e-mail privately.

Thank you in advance.
