Individual pediatricians don't strongly endorse breastfeeding, because in my
experience and in my opinion, they don't believe
there is any real difference between breastfeeding and formula feeding; they
don't believe there are big risks to not breastfeeding.
I would like to see an endorsement something like this:
"Mothers who are capable of breastfeeding, should. Health care providers,
health care institutions, workplaces, and communities should strive to
remove all barriers to breastfeeding. Professional lactation consultants and
lay breastfeeding counselors should be available and freely utilized to
support breastfeeding and to help mothers solve any breastfeeding problems
they encounter."
