I found this thread very interesting. While I do not have any studies to share
with anyone, I would like to add some unscientific anecdotal items

In my work with mother support groups over the years, this situation has
come up quite a few times. It has been my belief that if (as in this case) other
serious things are rules out, it is most likely an individual variation on the
norm.

In the interest of full disclosure, my first baby was one who went from pooping
every time he ate as a newborn (oh the laundry!) to very gradually, by the
time he was 6 months old, moving his bowels once a week. Yes, it was
copious, and yes it was pasty. But he was gaining well, and developmentally
flying along, so I assumed all was well.

I am concerned by the Dr.s in this case suggesting M.o.M., and also at the
increases they want to see in solids intake. I have to agree with Gonneke
with a full return to breastmilk only diet for a few weeks.
