Do you have any hospital policy or scientific evidence for strep B
positive
mothers and delaying STS?
M.Ersilia Armeni
pediatrician, IBCLC
Rome (Italy)
I was recently asked about a mother with MRSA doing skin to skin with
her infant. The neonatologist's comment was simply - not a problem - it
only menas if at some time the infant becomes ill with an infection it
may be harder to treat, the infant is not more likely to become infected
/ ill at the time. If you delay STS contact, whose bacteri will the baby
colonise with? The staff - can you guarantee that the staff do not have
MRSA in any shape or form? Just a thought.
