I think the difference between children who are breastfed and bottlefed
has something to do with the closeness, the holding, the skin-to-skin,
the responsiveness and attachment that goes along with breastfeeding.
It's emotional as well as physical nourishment, and humans need it. It's
the earliest experience of relationships. I recently saw a young mom
busy texting on her cell phone while her baby (about 6 months old) was
in a plastic carrier nearby, feeding himself a bottle. When you
breastfeed, you hold your baby.
