It's been many years since I've had to deal with lice. It was my experience
that chemicals don't work and are dangerous to everyone except the lice. We
tried all the lice combs in the stores to little avail, then found out about the
comb from headlice.org, which worked! I called to find a pharmacy nearby that
had them. We used a 2 bowl method: comb, alcohol dip, water dip, comb;
using hair clips to mark the way through the sections. It was the only thing
that worked. I remember it was nice to have quiet time one to one with the
children. Our school had a nit free policy, and magnifier reading glasses! It's
funny now, but was very stressful then. Also, boys have to be lice free to
have a professional shave/short cut anyway. We never heard of lice when I
was growing up. It was a whole new adventure in mothering for me!
