Hi Wise Women,
I have a mom whose baby was born at 36 weeks. She was nursing constantly
and not gaining. She starting gaining on mom's pumped milk, which I am glad
to say is copious. I assessed a tongue tie, which was clipped the other
day, at about 3.5 weeks of age. Baby weighs about 5 pounds, 5 ounces. Mom
has noticed a very significant improvement, but still feels baby is not
strong in her suck, not active enough, and would be on the breast 24/7 still
if she did not supplement. Mom successfully nursed her first child. Any
suggestions on how to improve this baby's transfer?
With great appreciation,
Julie Rosen, LLLL, IBCLC
