Evi has pointed out the next salvo in the war against breastfeeding. A
new book by Joan Wolf will be coming out soon whose mission is to
expose the "myths" of breastfeeding and breast milk. Joan Wolf is an
American academic whose forthcoming book on breastfeeding in the West
examines the medical studies on breastfeeding in painstaking detail.
Her conclusion?
“The evidence to date suggests it probably doesn’t make much difference
if you breastfeed.”

As usual, breastfeeding comes under attack on the eve of World
Breastfeeding Week as well as just prior the roll out of the new WIC
food packages in the US that emphasize breastfeeding. Too bad some of
these authors don't take a critical look at the studies on infant
formula and debunk the myths that companies use to peddle this product.
What we need is a book looking at the "science" behind formula and how
it has been corrupted to conclude that it is equivalent to breastmilk.
