I remember once when I was doing something on the computer, a pop-up 
came up and it asked about the best salary's in the country etc.  I was 
curious to see what they were, (no lactation consulting wasn't listed) but I 
was able to google "Lactation consultant" and it gave me a range depending 
on where you lived.  I wish I could remember the web site, but I cannot.  I 
would try google "lactation consultant" and then look for salary.  In my state 
it was about 70 K /year.  I do not know if it meant hospital based or not.  If 
you are just doing private practice, it would be fairly easy to figure out.  You
