I have never been comfortable with the term "growth spurts" because moms are led to expect a jump in weight gain with them.  However, much anecdotal excperience has led to these terms.  It does seem that if you graph the excperience with a hundred babies as to when they go on these "binge days" there woud be clusters around 10 days, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months.  Interesting that each time span is double the previous one-don't know it that's significant or just an interesting coincidence.  They seem to be common enough that the 
ABM manufacturers often send their nice little coupons to coincide with these ages-hmmm, wonder why---NOT!
