Our hospital used to bill for our services but gave up because insurance did not cover it. Patients are not charged for any of our services - in or outpatient. I believe that it is included in the room charge.
I am pleased about this because all moms can come to us - without the fear of a huge bill arriving.

Anyone out there doing outpatient consults with the hospital doing the billing
WITHOUT a physician run clinic status? I'm curious if anyone is REALLY
getting repaid for their services. I am running into the problem of insurance
companies telling hospital to bill lactation services under education - then
denying payment to the patients because they don't cover education - and
patients and physicians referring the patients being upset. Sounds to me like
the old runaround game. How ridiculous that we say out of one side of our mouth
we want moms to breastfeed for at least 6 months - then tell them they can't
have help when they have real issuse unless they pay out of pocket or are
desperately poor and eligible for government paid services. We see the middle
class mom caught once more. And these women truly want to breastfeed - they
just don't appreciate paying for insurance services that are denied!
