Dear Friends:
This discussion of bottles is interesting.
I wonder if part of the "larger baby, faster flow" marketing ploy is the
view of bottle-feeding expressed and seen in the US.
Bottle-feeding is perceived as a way to inject as much fluid as quickly as
possible into a baby so it stops crying ( or fussing or needing) and goes
to sleep. This is one way bottle-feeding leads to obesity, as baby is
overfed. Dr. Ruth Lawrence said this in an interview.
As a baby whose tummy is already stretched grows, it needs more filling to
feel full. I've had mothers tell me their baby takes 8 eight-ounce bottles a
day! This is 64 ounces, or 2 liters.
Poor babies.
