Hello Pam,
I have no references or citations for your question, only an anecdote -- a
few years back, a local mom was breastfeeding her baby, diagnosed at 4
months with leukemia (which, sadly, was terminal). The mother breastfed
him throughout his short life -- just over 6 months after his diagnosis, if
I remember correctly. I also remember that he had extensive chemotherapy
and hearing about how well he was able to fight and survive, presumably
because he was fed only his mother's milk -- he was fed via tube when he
couldn't nurse. I don't remember hearing anything about this mother being
cautioned at all.
I'm interested in additional, scienfitically based responses to this
question as well! My thoughts go out to this mother!
