Leigh Anne,
The minocycline and black milk angle is covered in the 6th edition
(2005) Ruth and Robert Lawrence's book, Breastfeeding: A Guide for the
Medical Profession. On page 350 it describes a 24-year-old woman who
took minocycline for acne for 4 years, which subsequently caused the
black milk. It also says: "Examination of the fluid revealed that the
macrophages contained hemosiderin, thus causing the black color...A
scond case was reported in a 29-year-old female who had weaned but could
express black milk 3 weeks after beginning oral minocycline therapy.
Hunt and associates found iron-staining pigment particles in the
macrophases and suggested it was iron chelate of minocycline."
So perhaps the iron aspect might provide a clue. Hope this helps.
Happy New Year!
