Could it be that this mother is incorrectly interpreting information on the subject from different sources?
There is mentioning of breastfeeding (but not exclusive!) until the first molars errupt in a lot of places, so maybe this mother is just confused that they mention exclusive bf until then?
I would ask the mother herself for her reasoning and for more information and then discuss thoroughly what she reads with her.
