mom went to gyn re: persistent bleeding, 12-14 days at a time, not menstrual as mom is on medroxyprogesterone acetate (depo-provera) and never bleeds on it.
normal exam. gyn suggested checking mom's thyroid levels.
knows mom is nursing- was reluctant to give birth control pills to stop the bleeding because she "doesn't want to decrease your milk supply." mom agreed to bcp's anyway as 1)she is sick of bleeding and 2)still has an abundant milk supply even though nursling is a toddler- he's a "nurseaholic" and does a great job maintaining her supply :-)
gyn said everything is probably "just your thyroid levels while you're nursing."
mom to take 2pills/day until the bleeding stops, notify gyn if that hasn't worked within a few days.
awaiting results of thyroid bloodwork- should we expect it to be high or low? and what is the connection between thyroid levels, breastfeeding, and vag bleeding?
thanks for not making me research it in books when I'm supposed to be just having a quick midnight snack and getting back to bed! (my midnight snacks always involve a detour to catch up on lactnet!
