I routinely see loss of pigment of the areola in long-standing yeast
overgrowth or inflammatory conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.
In yeast it tends to involve the nipple and the areola that gets into the
baby's mouth....in eczema it tends to involve the area that rubs on pump
parts, and in psoriasis it can be anywhere a plaque decides to form....but
most often where there is friction.
