Well, my handy-dandy digest of MedScape news tell me today of a recent study:
"Progression through the menopausal transition as indicated by 3 menopausal characteristics (symptoms, bleeding-defined stages, and endogenous hormone levels) is associated with self-reported sleep disturbances, according to the results of a study reported in the July 1 issue of Sleep. "Both age and hormonal changes can contribute to disturbed sleep in middle-aged women undergoing the menopausal transition," write Howard M. Kravitz, DO, MPH, from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and colleagues. "
So -- how many of us Lactnetters are reading this at 3 AM because we couldn't fricking sleep thanks to our "menopausal transition characteristics?"
Sheesh. Tell me something I don't know. Wait -- I guess I CAN make this BF-related. "IBCLCs use the wee hours of the morning to read and learn about breastfeeding in their failed attempts to get back to sleep."
