Hear, hear!!!
The thought occurred to me that, just like we write decision-making trees or algorhythms (if this, yes/no, then do that), we could make a parallel "disaster cascade" (if this happens AND you do that, the other is a probable outcome).
Clever people can combine them into one tree.
Sounds like a fun project to me.

Jaye,
You and I must bang our heads against the same WALL. Anyhow, I am glad
that I am not the only one. I had an engorgement story similar to yours this
week. I am mainly frustrated with what I call ped timing. The baby
basically has "lack of breastmilk jaundice" because the hospital has already put mom
and baby on a strict 3 hour schedule, and then day 3,4, or 5 (JUST WHEN
MOM'S MILK IS IN)-- the ped recommends full supplementation or a 1-2 oz ABM
bottle after every feed to decrease the jaundice. Within 24 hours, mom is
engorged to the collar bone, baby won't latch, and the whole family is in tears.
Anyone else tired of this consistent scenario???

Now for the good news: Another mom calls me asking for input on bringing
her milk supply up. Currently nursing a (just turned) 6 yr old a couple
times a day and got word that the baby they were adopting was coming home in
a couple days. Baby is 3 months old. I did an in home visit and watched in
amazement as this adorable kid, who has never been on a breast, felt skin on
his cheek, turned and latched and nursed as if he'd been doing it all his
little life! We used and SNS to give him a meal (mom's supply isn't up just
yet) and he was fine with it! Mom and I both amazed - daddy very proud of
his new little boy! Very happy story for me.just had to share. They are
co-sleeping and doing lots of skin to skin. Baby loves to nurse just
because, to go to sleep, for comfort - whatever. How cool is that?
