This is neither the time nor the place for a lecture on what satire is, nor why you can "plagiarize" someone else's words if you are making satirical fun of them. What Dr. Gordon did is not satire. He did, indeed, claim that the AAP president said those words, as he presented the statement as though it were a legitimate press release from the AAP. The CONTENT and PURPOSE of his message are IRRELEVANT to the issue at hand. What he did is indeed considered academic dishonesty, at least in my discipline.
