Hi Kathy,
I beg to disagree with you. Right or wrong, Dr. Gordon's joke was an
effective way to bring AAP's attention to its conflict of interest and
the damage they are causing to this nation. How much longer will we
have to tolerate the unethical behaviour from a prestigious
institution that claims to protect the health of babies? We have been
academically honest for decades and their dishonesty still remains
immovable. Rather than scrutinizing the scientific evidence behind Dr.
Gordon's joke. I suggest that we reiterate the overwhelming scientific
evidence on the health consequences of not breastfeeding to AAP's ears
and the ethical implication of conflict of interest. The way I see it,
AAP owes a big apology to the entire country.
