ScienceDaily (Apr. 25, 2008) - New research suggests that very preterm
babies, born between 28 and 31 weeks, could benefit from skin-to-skin
cuddling with their mother before and during painful procedures such as a
heel lance.
Aww. This is wonderful to see. When my twins (just turned 6) were at AGH,
Pittsburgh. They fought with me over me holding my baby's hand during his
blood draws and iv's being put in and such. They tried to tell me that he
would associate my touch and my voice with pain! :(
Well, as I saw it, I was there about 20 hours a day and always touching them
and always singing to them and I didn't want the one having the tests
thinking I'd left him and there they were doing these awful things. So I
stayed and talked to him, sung to him, and held his hand. I knew I was
right!
