Dear Mary
I assume you are searching for the WHO Growth Standards 2007. Please be
aware that they are NOT 'growth charts for breastfeeding infants'. They are
growth reference charts that describe "how all babies everywhere should
grow, regardless of how they are fed". They were developed by studying the
growth of breastfed babies. This is because breastfed babies grow normally.
Babies who are not breastfed do not grow normally.
This is important because the mothers of artificially fed babies have a
right to know and understand the effect that artificial feeding has on their
babies. If their babies are held to a different standard, they will assume
that the deviant growth they see is 'normal'. It is also important that
those who would develop infant formula be striving to produce a product that
enables children to grow normally - as breastfed babies do.
Cheers
Nina

Subject: who growth charts
I am looking for the WHO growth charts for breastfeeding infants. Are
they available in tear off sheets? Please, if anyone knows where and how
I can order them, my pediatricians are driving me nuts.
Mary Westra
