Have been reading the discussion re: slow-flow feeding bottle nipples and
thought I'd say again that another LC (who's also CCC-SLP) and I tested a
gazillion hospital and commercial newborn teats. Also did quite a lit
search. If anyone is interested in our findings, I'm willing to share via
personal email.
There are many reasons stressed parents and HPs think infant feeding bottles
vs. other options. What I would choose is not always what others choose --
and there are risks/benefits to all options. However, all options need to be
looked at re: airway issue -- and too fast flow results in airway distress.
And all infants, no matter how ultimately fed, deserve airway protection...
