In response to Nan Jolly and Nina Berry:
1) Yes, so far as I know, the LLLI chapter in Perth is inactive. I tried to make contact, probably within the past year, while preparing for some speaking, but there was no reply. While they existed, I liked to mention them as one of the resources available in Australia.
2) Other mother-to-mother support currently available in Australia includes a very few - far too few - peer counselling programs, some set up by health services, and one a community-based drop-in centre. The big gap in mother-support in Australia is in peer counselling to meet the needs of mothers who are more comfortable being matched with other mothers from the same socio-economic background, age group, or cultural background.
3) Does anyone have experience of the Baby Cafe concept in Britain?

I don't think so. There are a few Leaders around but they don't have an
Australian chapter as far as I am aware.
