Hi Jaye,
When I had a yeast infection years ago, the only thing that worked was
gentian 1%. I used it mostly on my nipples, and used it very "sparingly" in
Ricky's mouth. He never got any ulcers, and I finally got rid of the yeasties. I
tried,
1. nystatin (didn't touch it)
2. probiotics even opened up the capsules and poured in bra. I was sooooo
itchy.
No one offered me diflucan that I can remember. Other that purple nipples for
a week or so, and a kid with a purple mouth there were no problems.
I have moms paint it on their breasts, then put the baby on. If it is gonna
work, you usually have immediate relief. If you see spots in baby's mouth I
would just "dot" the solution on it.
Best,
robin
