Desirre suggests we boycott Medela and use another pump company instead:
<<it would be fabulous to be able to boycott Medela the way that many of
us boycott Nestle and other products.>>

This whole infuriating nightmare reminds me of our discussions here last
year when we realized that Medela was advertising feeding bottles on
their website. So I feel inclined to repeat myself. Quoting myself,
from a post here last November:

<<<<My father (who, bless his heart, turns 87 today!) is a pediatrician
so I grew up surrounded by oh-so-friendly formula reps, who were in his
office on a regular basis. Those relationships were way too cozy. As an
IBCLC I have long said that *our* relationship with the breastpump
industry is WAY too similar to what I grew up watching. It bothers me.
It's not quite as bad but it's close enough, and it seems to me that
this situation is an acid test. If Medela is now in clear violation of
the Code then we're about to learn something very important about
ourselves. What are we more committed to - our favorite breastpump
company or the ethical standards of our field? I fear the answer to
that question will be the former.

I hope we stand up for what we claim to believe; otherwise, we are no
different than the pediatric profession we so love to criticize...>>>>

So now I ask, with respect to this new Medela problem: why are we
surprised? We knew last November how they operated. It seems to me
that it comes down to this: we like their pumps (and the lovely research
they fund). A lot. We don't like the way they do business but at the end
of the day they're banking on our admiration for their product to
overcome our ethics and now, even our standards.

Are they right?
