Since the one commonality in cases of migraine appears to be either an actual magnesium deficiency or an inability to uptake magnesium, AND magnesium deficiency is, in my experience, the most common cause of OAMER, I would guess that the drugs you took interfered with mag uptake (which would also account for the chest pain--since the heart desperately needs mag and you will experience chest pain w/o enough), thus creating a more powerful OAMER. And, there would, of course, have been no improvement in the migraines.

As an aside, I used to have "chronic" migraine with aura, in my early-mid twenties. It was uncontrollable with meds and by sheer will, I would make it through my days, often stopping the car to vomit on the way home from work at night. It was truly a nightmare. They finally became very infrequent when I stopped all meds, eliminated? all traces of cow milk (was already veg, but not vegan) and began to use homeopathy. They finally resolved almost completely when I became a healthy vegan (not a junk food vegan), normalized my magnesium levels and learned how to use natural medicine. Mag was also how I treated my very painful and powerful OAMER with my daughter. It has been years since I have had more than one every year or two.

I have an interesting anecdotal observation. I suffer from severe, intractable
migraine. This has necessitated every form of treatment from Chiropractic, to
acupuncture/pressure, Bio-Feedback, Laying on of Hands, Faith Healing, herbs,
"allergy" treatment, supplements and over 50 different medications (starting
when I was in my teens. But, the migraines started as Abdominal Migraines when
I was a small child, and moved to the head at around the age of eight. They
are now nearly chronic, but my Neuro and I have got pretty good control at
pushing them into the background about 68% of the time.)

One which helps some is Zoloft. I had OER before I ever started on Zoloft, and
continued it (with Obs, Peds, and Neuros OK during pregnancy and lactation, once
I brought them the proper documentation, Thank you Dr. Hale!) and noticed no
difference in the Ejection at all.

However, at one point while I was nursing my youngest, I was given a Triptan Drug
(similar in structure to SSRI antics) called Zomig. I noticed, about 3 hours after
the dose a heavy increase in the strength of my Ejection. I could feel the tinging,
while the baby was sleeping and when she awoke to nurse (I was then lying down due
to pain, nausea, light sensitivity ect) the Ejection virtually blasted her off my
breast. I am used to very strong Ejections, but I used=this drug 2 or 3 times in
the first 6 months of my 3rd baby's life, and this "Uber Letdown" happened only
when I used the drug. (I decided to discontinue the drug, as I received little
benefit from it, and I began to have chest pain, as per nearly every other Triptan
I had tried.)

<snip>

There was an other thread, which was talking about lactating and remission of
Chronic Conditions. No such luck for my migraines and related symptoms. My migraine
gets worse with pregnancy, and does not improve during lactation either. However,
I was recently dxed with FibroMyalgia, the Neuro said he "suspected you've had it
for years, maybe more than a decade" I DID notice much less fatigue, body aches,
stiffness, pressure point tenderness ect while lactating with my 3rd baby. But,
sadly, as soon as Menses resumed (at around 15 months pp) the Fibro returned with
a vengeance. Hopefully waiting for completed Menopause at this time.:) This
Perimenopausal stuff is dragging me down. :( Sorry for the TMI tone of the post. :)
