Re Denise's post - the guidelines in Norway are that if mother breaks out in
chickenpox lesions in the time period mentioned, the baby should be given
immunoglobulin against chickenpox immediately while continuing to stay with
the mother and breastfeed. I agree with Denise that the recommendation that
baby be isolated from mother is meaningless since the highest risk of
contagion is in the 24 hours before lesions appear, so the damage will
already have been done by the time you find out mother has the illness.
