I called Victoria's Secret. Of course, I got a rather clueless young phone
worker, who wasn't even aware of what I was talking about. I simply asked, if
she could find out, why ONLY the nursing bra pictures had models whose
heads were not shown. I made it clear that over the years many woman had
asked for VS to start making nursing bras, but that the clear difference in how
they were being advertised was odd.
She finally put me on hold, and eventually came back and told me that "it was
just a coincidence." I didn't want to get upset with her, as obviously, she had
nothing to do with the layout of the ads, so I asked (again) if I could speak to
a supervisor. I got the standard "They are all in a meeting." *argh* I then said
that it could NOT be a "coincidence" as ALL the regular bra images had faces,
and NONE of the nursing bra photos had faces. Again, she repeated that it
was just a coincidence. So, I asked if she could pass along a message to her
Supervisors, but I doubt she even wrote it down.
I did, in frustration, mention the VS Nurse Ins and boycotts a few years ago,
due to a women being asked to leave a VS store while breastfeeding her baby.
Her reply was that she didn't know about that, because "The stores are
different than the catalogue."
Oh, well.
