Hello Lactnetters:

I am the full-time IBCLC at an 800+ bed medical center in NYC, USA. I have
been asked to write a policy re: BF moms admitted to medical and surgical
units. I'd like to get feedback from anyone who has already written one.

Here are my questions: When a BF mother is admitted to a medical or surgical
unit what is your policy for maintaining breastfeeding? Can baby stay with
mother? Do you have a policy which outlines whether or not this can be done
and under which circumstances?

If you would like to share this with me you can e-mail me at:

Thank you,

Barbara Holmes RD, IBCLC

Brooklyn, NY.
