Subject: [LACTNET] Suave TV ad
Has anyone else seen the new Suave TV ad? It states that 62% of women
say their hair and breasts were flat after breastfeeding. It then goes
on to promote Suave shampoo. I was absolutely blown away. I have sent
an e-mail off at the company web site but I need to get a letter to the
CEO of Unilever, the parent company. Hope you will join me.
**Hi Jeannette,
I don't think a shampoo will help for the breasts... hahaha!
What constituted the main force in blowing you away...? ;-)
It may not be fully untrue that the breasts are flatter after weaning and
involution than they were before, as the fat in the breasts may have
disappeared during lactation. It will come back, though, after a while, and
as was recently shown: sagging of the breasts is not due to lactation but to
pregnancy, age and hormonal changes.
As far as the need to introduce breasts into a shampoo commercial is
concerned... seems totally pointless to me. :o)
Kindly,
Marianne Vanderveen, Netherlands
