Bless you, Dawn. Learning a Loving Way of Life was the first book I
worked on for LLLI. As one of the editors of this compilation of
stories and poems from LLL News, it was a miracle they let met work on
another book, as this one didn't sell well. (I saw it recently on Amazon
for two cents US!) I used to say that only those with lots of oxytocin
in their system could appreciate it.
When I worked on LLLI publications, I was lucky to spend time with all
of LLLI's Founders. My favorite moment with Edwina was at the 2005 LLLI
Conference in Washington DC. I ran into her on the last day after the
banquet and she told me she had celebrated her 91st birthday earlier
that the year. I asked her if she thought that working for a cause she
felt so passionately about had helped to keep her going to such an
impressive age. She burst into laughter and said, "Well, it sure didn't
hurt!" She then took my hands in hers, looked me straight in the eyes,
and thanked me for all I had done. She was a wonderful lady and I feel
privileged to have known her.
