My son who nursed until 6 or 7?  Well, I pretty much lost my milk during 6 weeks of hospitalization and milk-killing meds when he was 2 1/2.  I  probably got a small supply back once I was back home, but I really didn't hear much swallowing after that.  He nursed longer with little or no milk than he did with a robust milk supply.
